Public transport

Further information

Transperth – Journey Planner, SmartRider and timetable information.

SmartRiders

To make the most of cheaper concession fares, you will need a Tertiary SmartRider.

You can buy SmartRiders at UWA Campus News and Gifts in the Guild Village, or from any authorised SmartRider outlet.

Register your SmartRider, after you've bought it, to receive your concession.

Find your way around

Public transport to the Crawley Campus is convenient, which is why 35 per cent of students and ten per cent of staff use it every day.

  • The 79 bus extends its route from UWA to the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the QEII Medical Centre.

All of these bus services use the bus stop on Stirling Highway at the north end of the Crawley Campus, except for the 97 (Subiaco Shuttle) that stops at the north end of Fairway.

Benefits of using public transport

Save money by using public transport

Public transport really is much cheaper than driving a car.

Make the most of your travel time

It may take a bit longer to use public transport but you can make the most of your travel time to study, read or enjoy one of the entertainment features of your mobile phone.

Public transport is a trouble-free experience

Public transport is also a relatively trouble-free experience, especially when you compare it to the effort required for finding a permit or pay-by the-hour parking space.

Public transport considerations for UWA staff

Staff who live further away from UWA and drive fuel inefficient vehicles, will probably save money by using public transport.

Staff who live close to UWA may prefer the convenience of public transport but will find the economic advantages are marginal.

If public transport helps you not have to own a car (or second family car), then the savings are much more significant and can amount to thousands of dollars each year.
