Student parking areas

Yellow student parking permit areas

If you have a student parking permit, you can park in the yellow parking areas (car parks 1, 4, 8, 9, 14, 21 [upper], 31, 35 and 37).

A parking permit does not guarantee you a parking bay.

If all the yellow student parking areas are full, you may park in short or long-term pay and display parking areas after purchasing and displaying a ticket.

Parking without a permit

For non-permit holders, or if the permit-parking areas are full, there are long and short-term pay and display parking areas:

  • Long-term (8am to 5pm)
    Car Parks 9, 17, 23, 25, 31, 33 and 35.
  • Short-term (8am to 5pm)
The maximum amount of time you're allowed to park varies, so make sure to check before leaving your car.
    Car Parks 1, 3, 4, 20 and 37.

Please don't park in reserved, disabled and service bays.

Red and yellow parking bays after hours

You don't need a permit for red and yellow bays on weekends, or after 5pm and before 8am on weekdays.

Pay parking outside UWA

Pay parking is on the roads surrounding UWA. This parking is controlled by the City of Subiaco, City of Perth and City of Nedlands.

Carpooling for students

We offer carpooling parking bays and an excellent carpooling system, to help you share costs, reduce parking pressure and your carbon footprint.

Eligibility for a carpooling permit

If you are eligible for a yellow student parking permit, you are eligible for a carpooling permit.

You cannot have both a carpooling and yellow student parking permit.

First-year students may join a carpooling group if there are three or more members in the group that are eligible for a yellow student parking permit.

The minimum number of students in a carpooling group is three and the maximum is five.

Only those people in the group with a vehicle will be issued with a carpooling permit.

How to apply for a carpooling permit

The entire group needs to apply for a permit, in person, at the UniPark Office. Please take the following to UniPark:

  • 2009 Student ID card - for each person on the group
  • vehicle make, model and registration numbers - for each vehicle in the group.

If you are unable to apply for this permit in person

You may nominate someone to apply on your behalf. You must supply the nominated person with a signed letter authorising them to apply on your behalf. They will also need your 2009 Student ID card and information about the vehicle make, model and registration number.

For your permit to be valid

Your permit must be fully affixed to the lower left-hand corner of your vehicle's windscreen (using the self adhesive on the permit).

No other method of affixing the permit is accepted.

Carpooling parking areas

The student carpooling area is located at the southern end of carpark 14 (Engineering). The University may, at all times, use its discretion in relation to the location of carpooling areas.

If more than one vehicle from a carpooling group is found in the carpooling area at the same time, each vehicle will be issued with an infringement.

If all carpooling bays are occupied, you may park in short or long-term pay and display parking areas after purchasing and displaying a ticket.
